WISDOM will GROW within you as you WALK within it.
If you want to walk in WISDOM, don't take the wrong attitude! When you are faced with a mess, don't try to blame it on someone else. That won't resolve the situation. Start looking to God with these words on your lips: "This is a mess, God. What shall I do? I don't know what to do, but I believe that You know what to do and that You will impart to me Your WISDOM."
In What Matters Should You Obey The WISDOM Of God?
In ALL matters. Nothing is too big or too small to be touched by God's WISDOM. NO DECISION YOU ARE FACING TODAY IS UNWORTHY OR TOO TRIVIAL FOR YOU TO SEEK GOD'S WISDOM ABOUT IT. But once God gives you His WISDOM on a situation, be sure that you follow the advice or instructions that He gives you. REMEMBER - God is smarter than you or anyone else.
How Should We Obey God?
How do we obey the WISDOM of God when that WISDOM seemingly goes directly opposite of what we want to do in our flesh or goes directly against the norms of society? The answer is a simple one, but not an easy one. We look to Jesus.
The Bible says that Jesus is the Author and the Finisher of our faith, "who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God" (Heb. 12:2).
The Lord Jesus today is in great delight because one day He knelt in the Garden of Gethsemane and cried out to God, "Give me Your WISDOM. Show Me what to do,. . .and I WILL DO IT." He said, "Not My will, but Yours, be done" (Luke 22:42, paraphrase).
Jesus prayed, "Father, remove this cup from Me" He wasn't eager to go to the cross. It wasn't His number one choice of things to do the next day. BUT HE PRAYED, "Nevertheless, if that's Your will, I WILL DO IT" (paraphrase).
Jesus didn't just receive the revelation of God's will in that moment. He made a declaration of His commitment to DO that will. And the Scriptures say that Jesus endured the Cross. That word endure says a lot. The Cross wasn't a pleasant experience. Far, far, far from it. Jesus didn't enjoy dying on the Cross. He didn't like having the nails driven through His hands and feet. He ENDURED it.
Sometimes you'll receive the WISDOM of God, and God will direct you to do something you don't really delight in doing. Sometimes the WISDOM of God will be bitter herb to you. It will be contrary to the way you want to do things or the way you want to experience life. But if you will swallow that bitter pill - or, in other words, go ahead and DO what you know to do, no matter how hard it is and no matter how much you have to ENDURE - then you'll find yourself in a position to be resurrected by God with great VICTORY!
THE DISCIPLINE OF OBEYING WISDOM ALWAYS COMES BEFORE THE DELIGHT OF RECEIVING GOD'S PROMISE!
You may very well find that MOST OF THE TIME God's WISDOM cuts across the grain of what you want to do in life. The flesh and the spirit are in conflict. The Scripture says that there's a war between your flesh and your spirit. It's tough to obey the WISDOM of God. But ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS we have the promise of VICTORY, RESURRECTION, and REWARD when we obey the WISDOM of God.
What Did Jesus ENDURE On The Cross?
He ENDURED: shame, pain, & loneliness. What are you unwilling to endure today in light of what He endured for you?
If you receive God's WISDOM and refuse to act on it, then God is not obligated to give you further WISDOM. You do not have the option of saying, "God, I have Your WISDOM on this, and I don't like it. Give me a plan B." REMEMBER THIS: You have only one choice when you receive God's WISDOM on a matter: To move forward and ACT on it or to disobey it. When you obey, you put yourself into a position of reward, benefit, resurrection & victory. When you disobey, you lose. There is no other plan from God.
You aren't always going to know the precise outcome of your actions. But you CAN know that God has something good in mind for you and that victory, resurrection, & blessing are coming your way as a result of your obedience and your endurance.
Your walk of faith is a walk. It's going from faith to faith. And at each level of faith . . . at each step up that faith ladder . . . you are going to find obedience, endurance, death, burial, & resurrection. Jesus' experience on the cross was the culmination of an entire life of obedience, endurance, death to self & resurrection in God. The Cross was the climax of a long walk marked by the same steps of faith. You won't encounter obedience just once. You'll encounter it again and again as your faith grows and as your WISDOM increases.
The key question is? Is your ENDURANCE going to be as enduring as God's WISDOM? Will you have the courage to obey WISDOM and CONTINUE to have the courage to obey WISDOM again & again & again!
What will you do today? Do you have the courage to obey?
