THE WORD OF GOD WILL PREPARE YOU TO HEAR HIS VOICE
Make the commitment to study the BIBLE each day: systematically, spiritually and expectantly. As you do, it will tune your spiritual ears to know and understand the voice of God. When a voice of uncertain origin speaks in your spirit telling you to do a certain thing, wait until God confirms that leading through His Word before you obey it.
"Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." (Ps. 119:105, Amplified)
The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the (whole) person; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure and bright, enlightening the eyes...
Moreover by them is Your servant warned (reminded, illuminated and instructed); and in keeping them there is great reward. (Ps. 19:7,8,11, Amplified).
As you give yourself to the reading of the Word, the Lord will speak over and over to you through the scriptures
When you are out in the world all day, you will wrestle with all kinds of spirits. When you get home, you feel like you need a spiritual bath. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU STUDY THE WORD OF GOD. YOU MUST LET THE WORD OF GOD WASH YOUR MIND AND CLEANSE YOUR SPIRIT. As you read and meditate upon God's Word, it is like water cleansing and washing your mind and spirit.
...Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the Word...(Eph. 5:25,26. Amplified)
The Word of God is the soap and water that washes the grime and stench of the world off us. NOTHING else can wash you and make you whole and clean.
The Word of God not only instructs, tunes and washes you, it also enables you to defeat the devil CONSISTENTLY. When the devil came to Christ in the wilderness to tempt Him, Jesus did not pray. He did not praise. He did not bind or loose. No, HE SPOKE THE WORD OF GOD, and satan retreated. It is the same for us today!!! The Word of God is our offensive weapon against the devil.
I believe that there is a word in the Word for every situation of life. When the devil attacks, stab him with the sharp, two-edged sword of the Word. (See Eph. 6:17)
JESUS USED THE WORD. JESUS QUOTED THE WORD WHEN satan TRIED TO TEMPT HIM. JESUS IS YOUR EXAMPLE. WE ARE TO IMITATE HIM. SO SPEAK THE WORD IN EVER SITUATION THAT COMES INTO YOUR LIFE.
Believers who are not well-grounded in God's Word will have trouble with the devil planting doubts in their minds. If you want to OVERCOME, you are going to have to LEARN that only by knowing and speaking the Word of God will it cause you to be victorious. When the devil attacks you with doubt and you stand there trying to analyze how much faith you had when you tried to believe, or wondering if you prayed all the words in the Sinner's Prayer just exactly right, you're going to be in trouble. YOUR HOPE MUST BE BUILT ON CHRIST'S SHED BLOOD AND RIGHTEOUSNESS. You must rest your case in His finished work on the cross and in the changeless Word of God. Don't try to argue your experience with the devil; instead, just keep poking him with the Word of God.
Whenever satan attacks you in any realm - physically, financially, emotionally, spiritually, mentally, etc. - find yourself a concordance, look up the verses and promises that apply specifically to your situation, and claim them. Quote them. Turn them into prayers and faith declarations. Make them yours. Use them to back the devil down. THE WORD OF GOD WILL DEFEAT him EVERY TIME.
LEARN TO FEAST ON THE WORD OF GOD. You need to feed on the Word so that you can have and maintain spiritual strength. The Word of God is spiritual food, but many believers don't take time to feed upon it. Then they wonder why they're too weak and defenseless to walk in the Spirit or fight off satan's attacks.
When people are dying of starvation, they eventually reach the point where they feel no hunger at all. I'm afraid that many believers are at the point of spiritual starvation, and don't know it. Their languishing spirits no longer crave the bread of life or the milk of the Word. They don't even know they're dying. To such believers, Christ issues this urgent invitation:
Wait and listen, every one who is thirsty! Come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Yes, come, buy priceless (spiritual) wine and milk without money and without price (simply for the self-surrender that accepts the blessing).
Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread? And your earnings for what does not satisfy? Hearken diligently to Me, eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness (the profuseness of spiritual joy).
Incline your ear (submit and consent to the Divine will), and come to Me; hear, and your soul shall revive...(Isa. 55:1-3, Amplified).
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
(2 Tim. 3:16,17)
These verses tell me that the Word of God is a perfectly balanced diet. It contains exactly what we need to be complete, thoroughly equipped, healthy and strong. GOD GAVE US HIS WORD SO WE WOULD NOT BE LACKING ANYTHING. GOD CARES FOR YOU. GOD LOVES YOU!!! GOD HAS MADE A WAY FOR YOU TO OVERCOME, THAT WAY IS THROUGH HIS WORD. SO USE THE WORD OF GOD DAILY!!!
